Homemade Hand Sanitizer

With the frantic crowds of people hording products in the stores, especially hand sanitizer, I decided to make my own.  The CDC and the nursing commission have stated to use hand sanitizer when you can’t wash your hands. Washing with soap and water for 20 seconds is best, but when not available, hand sanitizer is the next best thing. Here is the recipe:

Recommendation is 60% alcohol to 40% aloe vera gel. Note that hand sanitizers can dry out your hands too. If you want your hands moist, add about 5 drops of glycerin.

In a container, place 2/3 cup of rubbing alcohol or Vodka with 1/3 cup aloe vera gel. You can add essential oils for a better scent. I’ve heard of others using tea tree oil as well to fight fungus and germs, but if you choose to do so, only a few drops goes a long way. I personally don’t like the smell of it. Eucalyptus essential oil is another powerful one you can use.
