I came across this legend and thought it interesting with Easter approaching. After his marriage to Bathsheba, David felt happy and played his harp. Two angels appeared and accused him of great sin. ( I’m assuming because his wife wasn’t Christian?) For 40 days and nights, David wept tears of repentance and his tears formed two streams. From the streams, sprang two trees. One was the willow, which weeps and mourns incessantly. The other was the frankincense tree, which sheds large tears in remembrance of David’s repentance.
