Some of Your Regular Medications Can Deplete Other Medications and Vitamins

Use of prescribed and over-the-counter drugs can cause depletion of one or more vital nutrients in the body. The drugs may interfere with the body’s absorption of an essential nutrient or vitamin, and the body’s production of an important biochemical. I recently found this out. I was prescribed Atorvastatin for high cholesterol. Apparently, it depletes your COQ10 which helps your heart and gives you energy. Other statins too. Here is a list of some others:

Elavil depletes Vitamin B2 and CoQ10.

Benazepril depletes zinc.

Glipizide and Glyburide, prescribed for diabetes depletes Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, and CoQ10.

Hydrochlorothiazide for high blood pressure depletes CoQ10, Calcium, Folic Acid, Potassium, Magnesium, Phosphorous, and Sodium.

Ibuprofen depletes iron, calcium, Vitamin C, and Folic Acid.

Levodopa depletes Potassium.

Lisinopril depletes zinc.

Tegretol depletes Vitamin D, Calcium, Folic Acid, and Biotin.

Celebrex depletes B complex vitamins

Tagamet depletes zinc, Calcium, Iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin D, and B complex vitamins.

Decadron depletes Calcium, Folic Acid, Magnesium, Potassium, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and zinc.

Digoxin depletes B complex vitamins, Phosphorous, Calcium, and Magnesium.

Estrogen products depletes B complex Vitamins, Zinc, Vitamin C, and Magnesium.

Pepcid depletes Calcium, Folic Acid, Iron, B12, Vitamin D, and zinc.

Lasix depletes Calcium, Potassium, Sodium, Magnesium, B complex Vitamins, Vitamin C, and zinc.

Gemfibrozil depletes Vitamin E, and CoQ10.

Metformin depletes B complex Vitamins.

Omeprazole depletes B complex Vitamins.

Rifampin depletes Vitamin D, B complex Vitamins,

Zoloft depletes Sodium

Synthroid and other synthetic thyroid hormones deplete Calcium.

Valproic Acid depletes Folic Acid, Copper
