Use of prescribed and over-the-counter drugs can cause depletion of one or more vital nutrients in the body. The drugs may interfere with the body’s absorption of an essential nutrient or vitamin, and the body’s production of an important biochemical. I recently found this out. I was prescribed Atorvastatin for high cholesterol. Apparently, it depletes your COQ10 which helps your heart and gives you energy. Other statins too. Here is a list of some others:
Elavil depletes Vitamin B2 and CoQ10.
Benazepril depletes zinc.
Glipizide and Glyburide, prescribed for diabetes depletes Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, and CoQ10.
