I wanted some chocolate chip cookies, but I also wanted something more, something to jazz them up. Here is what I came up with and they were a hit. You will need:
- 1/2 cup Hersey’s Baking Cocoa
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup Crisco Butter-flavored shortening
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1/2 cup cran-raisins
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sour cream
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, add sugars, eggs, and shortening. Mix well. Add salt, baking soda, and cocoa. Stir. When well blended, add flour. Stir. Add sour cream, coconut, cran-raisins, and chocolate chips. Stir it all in until blended well. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. Allow to cool on tray before removing cookies to rack.
I know the recipe calls for quite a bit of sugar, but believe me you’ll need it to calm down the chocolate. The sour cream gives it more moisture. Enjoy!
