I have always had the desire to visit Mont Saint Michel in the Normandy. Finally, on my way back from Guernsey, I decided to book a day trip in St. Malo to Le Mont Saint Michel; and I was happily looking forward to discover this UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the World Heritage of the Way of Saint James in France.
The 90 meter high Island, which covers an area of only 55,000 square meters, is world famous for its 11th-century Abbey Mont Saint Michel. The place has become a major tourist attraction and is visited annually by well over 2 million tourists; I was told that the Eiffel Tower in Paris would be visited by less people! As already mentioned, I had begun the one hour bus trip with great anticipation hoping to discover a new and interesting site which I had never visited before.
